Summer Time Shenanigans

Yes it is summer! We love summer. It's the best. Great things happen in the season of warmth. Like random gifts. For Mr. Clark that meant this fun playmat for his room. We bought it to encourage a little more autonomy in play (ie hoping he would want to go play quietly by himself sometimes with his cars). Yeah...not so much. We mostly live in his room now so he can play with it but it's a fun little mat. For Dana, that meant this seriously weird but cool old man briefcase he found while helping his Dad clean out someone's house. What will he put in said briefcase, you may ask? No idea. But he's keeping it.
For me, the gift is the sun. Lots and lots of sun. Yes, we've still had terrible wind and some rain but at least the sun comes out now and then. We did a hot volleyball tournament at the park where Clark entertained himself by dumping sand all over LoriAnn and Jane. On those rare rainy days, we like to gaze longingly out the window hoping a garbage truck might pass by.

Over Memorial Day, we took a hike with the Washburns to visit a "ghost town" up near Leavenworth. It wasn't really ghosty but it was fun to throw rocks in the river and hear funny tails about the towns gold from a nice older gentleman who clearly hadn't chatted with anyone that day:) The kids were great and wanted to touch the guys "gold nugget" necklace.

This little mailbox was an exact replica of a house up the street. Okay that's pretty cool.

On the way home we stopped at a park. Evan got roped into a random softball tournament (and got a hit!) while the littlies enjoyed the slides.

The following week we headed to Seattle for the Mormon Night Mariners game. We drove with Grandpa Sonny who always has good stories to tell. Our first stop was at Matt and Kristen's Airbnb for some rock throwing in the lake.

Then on to the game. It was great. The Mariners creamed the other team, including one Grand Slam...which I kinda missed cause I was in the line to end all lines getting t-shirts. We had fun. We ate too much good food. We came home exhausted. (also, see how sneaky Penny and Trisha photobombing us?!) Also, Mr. Clark stayed true to form and sat on our laps the entire night, not smiling, barely blinking. Not sure if he was overwhelmed or mesmerized but it sure beat the other kids who were climbing like wild animals all over the place. Atta boy!

And his little shirt is pretty cute. Hopefully he'll be able to wear it in 5 or 10 years:)
