Oh what fun it is to be a Gailan at Christmas time. We did so much this month!
Charlotte had her Winter Piano recital so she spent all of November busting out Frosty the Snowman with two hands. Then on the actual day decided one hand was the way to go:) I spent a lot of Tuesdays parked at the Hoppers while she had lessons and one day saw a whole bunch of Quail just run into the driveway and start eating all the bugs. It made my day!
Our YW lessons were all painting and gingerbread house decorating and the wearing of Ugly Sweaters.
Both kiddos got 50 straights days of Perfect Attendance so they got awards and extra time at PE. Charlotte timed it just right and threw up two days after this, missing her first day of school all year. It was a doozy too with her waking up in the middle of the night, barfing over the side of her bed and not telling anyone about it so Dana got to walk in on that the next morning. Lovely.
But she shook it off pretty quickly and decided to become a full fledged Pirate. Umm...yar?
Miss Char also won herself an Academic Achievement award so we got to attend the awards ceremony at Moxee Elementary and see her get all surprised. Pretty sure she won because she took like 17 straight AR tests in a row, day after day bringing home a book to read and then racing back to school to pass the test. This girl loves reading!
Mom went to a birthday party for Katy and I'm just throwing it in because I think I look cute:) My lady friends (as the kids call them) are seriously the best women!
Now that all that other stuff is out of the way, let's get to the real Christmasy parts of December. We had 3 straight weekends of craziness, kicked off by the Moxee Ward Christmas party with Santa and friends. This was my favorite party to date because they had a kid zone with crafts so after a few bites of dinner our kids disappeared and we got to chat with friends. We also squeezed in an Ugly Sweater Party at the Kearns house for the grownups but I have no photos because we were having too much fun.
Saturday we packed up for a long, snowy drive over the mountains to see cousins and Grandma Sue. It was so much fun to get all 5 of the boys together, play in their snow and give some hugs to Grandma. Going 30 mph over the pass on the way home....eh, less fun. But we kept it safe, as Dad insisted.
The next weekend we hit up the Lighted Festival at the Fairgrounds to hunt down Max and drive through a winter wonderland. Saturday we attended the temple while Clark and Char hung with Uncle Matt and Aunt Kristen and got to travel their neighborhood looking at lights.
The last weekend before Christmas we went Caroling with friends, had Fondu dinner with the Beddards, and eagerly awaited the arrival of the Christmas trucks which - because of lack of snow!- came down our road this year much to the screaming excitement of our children.
Oh what a December it has been. Some other happenings:
Charlott leaves little drawing on the white board sometimes. This is a pillo cat. Obviously.
Dad busted out the puzzles early and completed 5 total in the first 4 days of break. Finally the kids are old enough to help and his heart is happy.
Clark came home with a STEM project on the last day of school so we decided to put it together. He was given veeeeerrry old candy and told to make a weiner dog. I think we did pretty good despite the chocolate melting when we used the hot glue gun.
Whew! Now on to Christmas!
