It happens every year but with Covid I just assumed we were in for a nice, relaxing holiday season. HAHAHAHA!!! Oh silly me. No chance!
We decorated for Christmas early, per usual. Clark was VERY into hanging the ornaments. We lost Char the second we turned on Christmas YouTube. I think it turned out very nice. We even added a little white floppy star on the top (instead of the expensive ladder climbing Santa I was angling for).
We celebrated Dana's 38th. Since it wasn't a big birthday and since I literally flew home from my girls trip at 2PM that day, we did a nice low key birthday pie.
One other fun thing we've been doing to jazz up quaratine is get Yum! boxes. Basically, we get a box with food from a different country delivered every month. So far we have done: Thailand, Russia and now Italy. They come with facts and games from the country so we've been able to have a whole discussion with Clark and learn trivia. And for the most part the food is delicious (and weird!)
Also, Char made boat shoes one night in the tub. Boat shoes. Get it?
While Clark is at part time school, we often amuse ourselves by playing with her dollhouse. I put the Father laying down on the couch and she exploded with laughter yelling "Daddy, it's daddy!" I guess Dana falls asleep on the couch a wee bit too much and someone has noticed:)
And finally, I took a much needed 2 day vacay with the sisters in sunny/freezing Denver. It was meant to be a get away weekend with lots of food and shopping and nights out. It was not supposed to be one week after Colorado had a huge spike in Covid cases and essentially shut down again:( Oh this year! We made the best of it and thankfully got one glorious day to explore the outdoors and one super crappy day to shop with masks at IKEA. Win win!

These sisters! Even with nothing open and zero plans, we still pulled off an epic weekend of laughter, staying up to midnight, finding hilarious books, and doing what Kitchens do best - talking! Next time...no covid.
We are now a week out from Thanksgiving and things are getting interesting, folks. Clark, so far, has managed to keep his health and has not missed a day of in school instruction. Unlike literally all our friends who have kids who get a runny nose or cough or slight fever and get booted for 10 days. I'm sure our time will come but fingers crossed we can get to Christmas healthy. Covid cases spiked all across the nation and so we have shut down once again. It sent Yakima buyers into a panic and made all the toilet paper at Costco disappear like a fart in the wind. People be crazy!
What else? Oh, Biden won the election by a good majority and so naturally President Trump is suing every state in sight on his way out the door. We are pretty excited for a change in leadership and for our first woman Vice President and a woman of color! Hopefully she is a great role model for Miss Char.
The first 2 vaccines have been approved with over 90% efficacy which hopefully means the end to all this madness by next year. We will see. Until then, we are looking forward to family for the holidays and an end to this dumpster fire year!
