We're off to see the wizard...

The wonderful wizard of Texas sized food and hats and cows. I love that wizard! Well folks, we are just one week out from heading down to Texas. I have our new address so I thought I would post it in case, you know, you wanted to send cookies or a new washer/dryer set, you'd have the right address. That's me, always thinking. So here it is:

Harry Potter Spoiler

Remember that time good old J.K. killed off Fitlestein...no, well that's just cause I made him up. You actually expected me to give away the ending...gasp! Well it's over and I am rather bummed to be sure. It was an excellent ride for many years but I have to say after reading the final book straight from 6AM to 2PM, I was thrilled with the whole product. If you haven't finished it yet, shame....shame. It was a good ride and I can only hope Dana and I will be able to share the happy experience of Harry Potter with our own children unless they are too cool for us. I hope you enjoy it! Go Harry!

Oooh, you smell like bug spray

Well this blog is a little late but I was waiting for some pictures that finally. Two Fridays ago the Gailans, the Woodburys, and the Washburns braved the perils of Big Cottonwood Canyon for a Kitchen family favorite...camping! It was a long and windy ride up but the campground was beautiful (much nicer than the slash and burn facilities at Scofield) and we had quite an enjoyable evening. Lessons learned: 1-lighter fluid is a must have and cannot be replaced by bug spray to start charcoal.
2-Chipmunks have incredible dexterity when it comes to cleaning off spoons. 3-Ethan really really really likes tents. All in all we had a fabulous trip roasting smores and staying up late in the evening to chat. In the morning, we had a delicious breakfast provided by the newly weds and then hiked up to Donut Falls. Interesting fact, the falls are called Donut because by the time you get up there, you are so hungry you would gladly dump your diet and pig out on a donut...no seriously folks there's a rock the water falls through that looks like a donut...or a round rock, either one. But it was a great hike and we even managed to get Dana back down despite his best efforts to twist his own ankle. Much fun and laughter all around!

Happy 23rd to Me!

This is my Dairy Queen ice cream cake. It was delicious, thank you for asking. The butterfinger topping was Dana's own addition. If you are a Kitchen you will realize that birthdays are not single day affairs, oh no, we have birthday weeks. So it began Friday with dinner at Happy Sumo, a very cute Japanese restaurant. Dana and I tried a little of everything, even the raw ginger.

After dinner we walked around the riverwoods mall, making fun of the overpriced cookware in one store, putting on lotion samples in the next. We milled around Borders for a while until I started to get itchy. Yes, itchy. Apparently, I have a food allergy. Bad Happy Sumo..bad. After downing Bendryl the whole weekend, I was good to go. Saturday we started out with the movie Transformers. The plot line was...lacking...but the special effects were awesome. Gailan and Gailan give it two thumbs up...fun for the whole family. We went to Doug Shaffer's birthday party that night and then through some creative antics, Dana managed to sneak my card, cake, and some streamers into the house without me knowing about it. Way to go, sneaky sneaky.

Here's me blowing out my candles. Dana on the left got a little bored Sunday afternoon. Can you guess what Mario character he is? The picture on the right is from our hike Sunday afternoon on the Provo River Trail. We took a picnic lunch and ate next to the rushing waterfall:) Kristina, Fred, Jamie and Sean joined us later for cake. It was the best of birthdays and I owe it all to my fabulous hubby, Dana the Toad.

Fourth of July

I spent the morning watching the parade with Sarah, Ethan, Jessica, and our neighbors Jamie, Sean, and baby. It was a really fun parade but the best part was probably watching the giant float of Bob the Builder do the limbo under the power lines. Go Bob Go!

We had a lasagna dinner at the Woodbury's and then the girls and boys split and headed to separate games. The boys to watch some Bees baseball and the girls to watch REAL salt lake get into lots of fist fights with Toronto.

And then....fireworks! These were actually excellent barring the few that exploded below the stadium line...unsafe. But we had a great night and got home really really late. Happy Fourth!
