A True Labor Day

This year, Dana decided we should do a real Labor day--blisters, bruises, sweat and all. Somehow we talked Matt and Kristen into coming along and they schooled us up the mountain to Rachel lake.

Close up of Dana's fantastic swiss hiker socks
The trail was four miles up, with the first three being pretty flat and scenic. Not flat enough apparently, since I tripped almost right away and ended up with this:
We went through a tall grass section that made me think of Jurassic Park (don't go into the lower grasses) and along the way we went over several rivers and passed waterfalls. So pretty!
You'll notice I am in a few of these photos and that's because Dana decided to be camera guy this time. I think I'll let him keep the title because the photos speak for themselves.
The final mile was like walking up a dry waterfall. No kidding. Dana stayed back while I huffed and puffed and Matt and Kristen made it to the top first.

It took us six hours to go up and back but the views at the top were amazing. It really is amazing to sit somewhere untouched by roads and cars. We had such a great time with our new hiking buddies even if I couldn't walk for the next two days:)

Some hubby just got hotter

Just when I thought he couldn't get any more good-looking, my hubby goes out and gets himself a pair of these. Took three years of law school and three years of practice but his eyes finally said, enough!

He only needs them for night driving and computer use, though, so don't have a panic attack if you see him driving down the road as the old Dana.
