One tooth...two teeth...no teeth

It's officially funny front teeth photo season. The first one popped out back in April and Dana could not stop laughing. Plus all the 'S' words now have a funny accent which is just awesome. 

Then this dude hung on FOREVER!! Seriously, it drove Dana crazy. He literally spent weeks trying to bribe Clark into pulling it out and even got one good tug but it just wasn't ready. Then today, he woke us saying he wasn't feeling well (which makes sense since Charlotte licked everything at the park on Friday) so we took it easy. But sure enough - that afternoon while sitting on the couch he turns to Dana, says quietly "I'm gonna barf" and then does. Eww!! 

But it gets ewwier because as Dana is deftly maneuvering his barf covered shirt over his head, he snags that pointy tooth and POP! Out it comes. Right in the vomit. So yes, I fished a tiny chiclet sized tooth out of puke, washed it off, and put it in a box for the tooth fairy to collect later that night. That's gotta earn an award of some kind right?

At least we get this beautiful view for a few months. What a cutie!

Birthday Boy Number 7

 He's 7!!!! And while that might not be one of the so called "big" birthdays, at the Gailan household we accidentally went HUGE. Like, so big that all future birthdays will pale by comparison. How did we manage such awesomeness?

Well, it started Friday with birthday cupcakes hand delivered by Mom and Charlotte for school lunch time. And sure, he tried to pull "social distancing" on me by sitting 6 feet away from us and yeah there was so serious eye rolling when I asked if we could stay for recess BUT I think we all know deep down he loved the attention:) 

That evening we really ramped it up with a birthday bash in the baking sun with the Pasco Gailans. The four are the best of friends. Clark made out with books from Grandma Tina about Tsunamis, Legos, Lego Cars, and (because the theme was Hawkeye...what can't you tell that from the photos?) of course he needed a sweet bow and arrow. 

PS - Hawkeye is the lamest Avenger and you cannot find any decorations should you choose such a lame theme. Good to know!

Saturday he woke up his birthday for the final soccer game of the year which they won! Maybe? Probably? We weren't keeping score honestly but he did have a blast and special treats at the end. 

Then we picked up Timmy and Jake and went mini golfing for our first (and last maybe?) ever kid birthday friend date. It was hot and loud and full of boy poop humor. He loved every minute. Thankfully because of the new rules, we didn't have to wear masks in the 80 degree heat. But I regret that after capturing this seriously creepy series of photos of Clark at the pink house. All I said was "smile normally". Yes....that's so normal. 

They did every hole 15ish times and all had their strengths. Clark was a great putter, Timmy was super lucky on a few holes and Jake was weirdly talented on the loop da loop. Oh and I crushed Dana. He's not writing this so that's my story and I'm sticking to it. 

We finished up with Hot and Almost Ready pizza from Little Ceasars. Charlotte (who was being babysat by Kiera) was so happy to have us back. We sent the boys home, then got Timmy back for an hour because his house was empty but eventually we all settled in for a quick nap before....

Pool time at the Reiersens! Yes, to finish off his birthday we had a spontaneous invite from the Reiersens so Clark closed out the day splashing in the hot tub with Timmy and the big boys and downing 2 ice cream sandwiches. 

See what I mean? How can we ever top such a weekend? It's great to be 7! 

Wh-Wh-What's Happening?

What's happening is the Gailans are embracing summer full on! We got out first Clark buzz of the season. 

Then Mother's Day hit and flowers began to bloom in the house, along with some seriously cute artwork that made it onto the fridge. Oh- and delicious cookies for the RS ladies. We may have had to drive up to Vantage in 50 mph winds to get them but clearly they were worth it!

Ooops - tried to pack away the winter clothes and winter came back for one last cold snap. 

So we stayed inside and watched the most epic, most fantastic, most weird movie of perhaps all time - Mitchells vs the Machines. It's all the kids want to watch now and they quote it nonstop. And it taught Charlotte to do this weird chin tickle thing so now that's a part of her ever expanding repertorie of weird. 

But Bam! Summer came back with a vengence and our flowers soaked up the 85 degree heat and we broke out the grill. 

And then we threw a couple of tree into the backyard. And by "we" I mean two strapping young boys we hired from Roots nursery. The tiny one is an Ornamental Pear and the bigger on is a Flame Maple. We seriously hope we don't kill them:) Charlotte was so excited when she saw them she screamed "TREEEEE" and ran outside with no shoes on. 

As the trees were going in, we double booked appointments and our water softener/filter was being put into the garage. Charlotte did NOT love the buzz saw as much as the trees so she spent a good hour like this on ABC Mouse. Why are our children so weird about loud noises?

Not pictured is both Dana and I getting our 1st and 2nd doses of the Pfizer vaccine. With them came sore arms for us both and chills/fever/racing heart for me and nada for Dana. Cause life is just equal like that. After our shots came the even more exciting news that Washington will full reopen 100% on June 30th and that between now and then, anyone fully vaccinated can unmask. Can we just say - hallelujah!! Schools came back full time April 26th (which has been heavenly for us all) and it really seems like we might get some semblance of normal this summer. And that's what's been happening!

Soccer Star Gailan

Our first foray into athletics went off with a bang. It was VERY last minute and our team was the only all boy team because the computer...can't equally divide people but whatever. It was a blast and Clark had five hot/freezing/rainy/perfect weeks of training and games with Uriah, Marcus, Cameron and Lalo. He got progressively better each week and scored 2 goals throughout the season but mainly was a great goalie and passer.
