Random Summer Projects

As seems to be the case with new houses, there is a lot to do the first summer. We've spent the last few weeks buying (and returning) various types of lawn fertilizers, buy sprays, sandbags...wait, sandbags? Oh, yeah, we had a crazy monsoon last week and of course hadn't put up our gutters yet so the giant pile of dirt beside our house turned into a funnel straight into our foundation. Yay. Booo. A few sandbags and some clever repurposing of tupperware containers solved the problem. And double points to Dana for slopping out in the mud twice (right after he took his shower!). Anyhoo, the more fun projects included putting up pictures....See the level in his back pocket. I just thought it was cute

...and A GIANT TV!!! Yes, we finally did it. Dana researched for months and we went back and forth but our old little buddy was getting those lines that run up the screen and the buttons have rewired themselves so the volume button turns the channel. Not to worry, we just moved him to the workout room (I will never get rid of him. Never!) Dana decided he wanted it mounted on the wall so we started measuring and drilling. Like all our projects, Dana and I find it goes best with me sitting on the couch calling out instructions and him doing the grunt work. Teamwork, people.
Dana using his foot to give a size perspective. It barely fit in the Subaru. I was legitimately worried.

Finally out of the box. Is that a loaf of bread on the couch? Could be

Bye bye old buddy. See you in the workout room.

This is what holds our 50 lb tv to the wall. Am I comforted? No, not really.Oh, and it pulls out from the wall. Wonderful. That's not scary AT ALL!

Up and working. Can you tell Dana is in love. Wait till we have some nice furniture to even out how ridiculously huge it looks on the wall. Dana says wait for football season. Oh boy, here we go.
