The not so little man anymore turned 9 on Monday. The lead up to his birthday was chalked full of donuts at school, popsicles at soccer and then a Friday dinner at King's Row with ice cream to top it off.
Then returning home to open up a gift he had Dana buy for Charlotte (a teeny basketball that, let's be honest, he uses more than her), along with the game battleship and finally the grand surprise.A giant basketball hoop of his very very own. A think the face says it all:)
Not really birthday related but we continued the fun the next night at the Pine Wood Derby. Dana had painstakingly carved out the bottom of his car to hold weights that stubbornly refused to ever fit so instead we pivoted to the design aspect and threw on a Luigi. You can't go wrong with a Luigi. He lost every race but was a good sport about it and took home Most Artistic.
Every year I find it harder and harder to remember the squishy little baby he was so long ago. He is now an opinionated, passionate, sports loving big guy who keeps us on our toes and laughing. He's a great older brother and a great friend to all.
