As August comes to an end, here's a look back at all the small memories we squeezed in between the big trips.
Berry picking at Beddard Farms. Extra special because it's their last year of blackberries. These suckers were huge but never fear, Mom and Dad both wore our floppy hats.
A random day at the splash pad with the TriCity Gailans. We loved every bit of the sun and water and delicious snow cones. Last mall day was Encanto which made one little girl veeeerrry happy!
More lake days of course. I even got out on the paddle board one time (and quickly realized I get motion sick on paddle boards...good to know). Char hung mostly at the shore with Alice. Clark made some new buddies and ventured out to a giant floating log before setting out with Beckham to the hang in the middle of the lake.
Hop Fest! Always a treasure. Made the mistake of getting a funnel cake which made us all feel ewwwy but the tractors were good fun. Also Clark driving with the soda can is basically how he's gonna be at 16 and I am not ready for this.
No...I did not tell him to pose in the big tire. That's all his idea.
The parade the next morning was randomly rainy so we broke out the umbrella and some of us were happy to have our photos taken. Yes, I did make them pose with the big pig cause this is my favorite part of the whole weekend. Also we got little pink pig keychains for their backpacks and they make me happy.
We spent a week at climbing camp which was new for the kids and they were both pretty nervous the first day but clearly they overcame that as they both scaled the wall multiple times.
The YW painted rocks at the park one night (accompanied by a dance troupe practicing one song over and over and over for a Quincinera...so that was fun for an hour and a half). But I made the kids "mom joke" rocks. I love them.
Char has become obessed with drawing on her whiteboard and often leaves us little treasures like this outside her bedroom at night. Note there are 5 "people". One tall Dad. Two small kids. Maybe mom with no hair? And a bird??? We're confused.
The YW went up to the Moses Lake Temple one day so we stayed back and watched Ruthie and Stephen and hit up the Moxee pool. Always good fun...even when it rains on ya. And now at the end, we have done all the things. Camping. Hiking. So much swimming. Time with friends. Timmy at our house. Went to see Elementals at the real movie theater with real buttered popcorn and sodas. Rode bikes. Took walks. Saw family. And yesterday met our teachers at Back to School. We did it all and then we randomly fell asleep trying to make a fort. Yup. That's a wrap on summer.
