1st Day of School...sort of

In a normal year, I would have an adorable photo of Clark standing next to the door with his giant backpack and a sappy grin. But it's 2020 so of course I never took a photo during his first week of school. Because, let's be honest people, this is NOT school. It's weird computer camp with a poor overworked teacher. As my good friend, Rachel, puts it - this is the dumpster fire year. So this is the picture you get:

Clark on day 6. At his little pink desk (not our first choice). Half smirk, half wince. Wearing red pants and a green shirt that he picked out himself from the Fall pile because it was only 60 today thanks to a giant smoke cloud that has settled on our Valley. Fine. Totally fine.

Gerald and Piggie perfectly represent how the first week of school went. We almost ditched and went full homeschool after the 20th time of him coming out to ask me if he could be done...on the first day...in the first hour. But his teachers, Mrs. Sanders and Mrs. Stone, are SOOOO awesome and so I'm giving it 2 more weeks. It's getting better every day but we are gonna do a strange half homeschool/half virtual learning schedule and cross our fingers he ends the year smarter.

Likewise, Miss Char HATES this schedule. She spends half her time calling Clark's name under the locked door of his classroom and the other half buying fancy dressed on ABC Mouse. Whatever. It's 2020, girl. You get that dress!
If this year doesn't kill us, nothing will. Please let that be true. Please let school open soon. Please let the school send home more cookies in the lunch packs because hecks yes, momma needs them!
