Happy Birthday Charlotte (and 'Merica)

Smell that? Sulfur...sweat...a little desperation to have so much fun. Must be 4th of July in Moxee! The week leading up was HOT. So we went to the park with Gabe and rode bikes and got donuts and just generally forgot that we are still in lockdown.
I asked him for a natural smile and this is what I keep getting. Umm...okay.
On Miss Char's birthday we went mini golfing (well we eventually went after it was closed in the morning so we drove alllllll the way back over to do it at 4pm when it was stifling). Still, fun all around. It's amazing how fast you can do a round of mini golf with a 3 year old:) We had one close call with a forehead and some concrete but thankfully this lady baby is rough and tumble.
Then we headed over for McDonald's at G & G Gailans where Gma Sue made this cute little car town for the kiddos. It was super nice to sit under the breeze and chat while they played.
Saturday was the 4th and despite Covid it was still a rocking good time in Moxee. We spent the morning with G&G Kitchen and Aunt Lori hiking Cowiche. Spent a lazy afternoon listening to people shoot of fireworks (ALREADY???) and tackle Grandpa Pat.

Sonny and Matt arrived in time for dinner and some birthday cake! Charlotte made out big with cash from G. Sue and G. Tina, a Frozen game from us and a Doc McStuffins medical kit from Uncle Matt. She loved the singing and attention and licked most of the frosting off her cupcake before tossing the rest to Dad.
The rest of the evening was spent cooling off with squirt guns before heating back up around the firepit making our first ever batch of woofums. Yum!
Charlotte lost her mind after the first big firework at 8PM so she went happily to bed and I cranked her white noise machine up to turbo. She woke up once around 10PM just screaming but actually fell back asleep and didn't wake again which was a miracle. Clark spent the entire night on Grandpa Pat's lap, snuggled in a blanket, wearing his headphones and sucking that thumb. He took it out temporarily to eat a woofum but then pop! back in.
Fireworks were extra awesome this year. There wasn't as much foot traffic on the streets but people made up for it by shooting off extra fireworks. Our new neighbors, Heidi and Rich, even got in the game with this submachine launcher that was crazy and felt like the fireworks were right over our head. And Justin, Bishop, and the Barrientos teamed up with 11 other neighbors to do 12 finales back to back to back starting at 10:30. It was EPIC! Lori looked seriously impressed and Mom left quite smug:)

Sunday we did a little church with the fam and then G&G took off for the West side of Washington and we settled back into normal. Happy 4th of July all!
