Christmas got an extra boost this year because G&G Kitchen came to visit! They arrived about 3 hours after we dragged our sleepy, chlorinated booties back from Suncadia. Dana loved having people to help put his yearly puzzle together.
Sunday we have no pictures of because it was musical concerts at church, cousins for lunch, singing Happy Birthday to Grandpa Pat and just fun fun fun!Monday, we had fondu, present opening and some really really old cheese at the Washburns:) Clark only got into one fork fight and was super excited for his nerf football. Charlotte mostly licked her my little pony and stared at their tree.
The really fun part of the evening was returning to our family home only to find it locked and us without a key. Noooooo!! We'd had issues with the garage door earlier and had to manually close and lock it before we left. Then Dana came out the front door, locked it and well, you can see where this is going. But we didn't panic. I mean, sure, we called the Grows to see if Mark had any lock picking skills (sadly no) but then we adulted just fine and got a company out to break us in. The guy came super fast (a miracle on Christmas Eve!) and didn't even rob us blind. It was really a Christmas miracle and we feel grateful it all turned out well.
We had enough time to get baths and open up our Christmas jammies because some of us (Charlotte) started to fall asleep on the couch. Then Santa go to work with a roasting fire in the background for ambiance.
Christmas day was just us Gailans. Our little family of four in the morning followed by the whole Gailan clan for lunch and more presents. Charlotte - a baby doll, a stroller, the movie Trolls, and a soft blankie
Clark - Ninja Turtles, Kung Fu Panda, an Amazon Fire Tablet (What!!??) and Chick Hicks and The King (this was all he asked Santa for, seriously our kid is cute).
Okay and also, how freaking adorable is my baby holding her baby? She carries her all around now like a little momma.
Clark also got a wicked cool nerf gun from Uncle Matt and this Spiderman mask from G&G Gailan. We were also given a Liahona (*not the original) and a cheese ornament box from the grandparents along with a beautiful decoration from Matt and Kristen. We had the most fun just chatting and having a really low key Christmas dinner.
That night Charlotte did this. No idea why but it's her thing now.
While Dad went back to work, we tried to occupy ourselves with lots of TV and some mall walking but the only exciting thing was Aunt Kristina coming down to put up her Christmas gift to us: shelves! That's right people, Kristina and I, cut, sanded and sort of stained these bad boys. It was freezing outside and we had a technical difficulty with the stud finders but darn it we did it!
And it looks AMAZING!!!
New Years Eve we went low key with some hats from last year and a few noise makers. Char was not a fan of either but she did love her 6:30 bedtime...and so did we.
Our goals this year are to do some sweet house projects, go on some adventures, master the Come Follow Me program and seriously lounge it up in Cancun next week.
Happy 2019!!
