Hello? Spring?

Hey Spring, it's the Gailans. We just wanted to call and say we miss ya. Thought you would be dropping by this month. Looks like you are visiting all the other states which is totally cool and all but, well, we hope you make it this way soon. Seriously...come soon! Beeeeeeep.

Yes, the winter of 2016/2017 will forever go down in the history books as bruuuuutal!! February was nothing but snow snow snow followed by rain rain rain in March. We've had floods which kept me out of work and made for some fun mornings traveling to daycare as we encountered 40th avenue shut down and then 16th avenue shut down. February also had a nice treat for the Gailans in the form of a wicked stomach flu for Mom and Hand Foot and Mouth for Mr. Clark. Thanks Daycare...not. Thankfully he was pretty chipper during the whole ordeal. We did NOT take photos because we never want HFM again!

And in other news, the adoption had a shake up. Our match with our BM in June fell through. Weird situation that everyone was pretty upset about (none more than our awesome attorney Paul) but we have been quickly rematched with another BM set for baby girl August 1st. We have absolutely no info, not even a name, but we feel calm about the whole thing and just ready for little miss to join the fam.

Despite the nasty weather, terrible sickies, adoption sadness, and lots and lots of evenings without Dad (who was at the hospital learning to put in IVs and watch surgeries), we still managed to have as much fun as possible.

Clark loved the ball pit! I'm pretty sure this is where I picked up my stomach flu so I love it a little less. He did manage to get himself stuck up in the massive play center and I had to send a nice teenager in to retrieve the confused Gailan:)

Clark and Mom ventured out for a free soccer clinic. It was a bit chaotic getting in but half the ward was there (not kidding) so we had lots of friends and other moms to hang out with while waiting our turn. Clark was not sure why people were kicking the ball instead of bouncing in basketball style but he eventually got the idea and has a pretty good leg. Plus he got to bring home a free bright green "socca ball"...which he uses as a basketball but whatever. Free ball!

The anticipation of little miss has started a cleaning frenzy in our house and the decision to big boy up on the part of little man. Step 1: toddler bed. It was waaaay more complicated to put together than one might think but thanks to Dad's level head we got it done in two evenings. Clark is pretty enamored. He has so far respected the rule of no jumping but loved being higher up. Growing up way too fast man!

Ah the adventures in eating. My co-worker, Dirk, brought these adorable Rocket apples that are about the size of a large cherry to work and I took one home. Who would guess little man wanted to try it. It's so cute I almost can't stand it. He's good on the pasta now and sometimes will try a veggie or a mango slice from Dad.

Oh yes, funny glasses from his Valentine's package. Yes, they do Valentine's at day care. He's gonna be a lady killer for sure.

Well we are almost through March now. Our next 6 weekends in a row are jam packed with family, young women's and work. We took our first walk of the season on Sunday and although it was still windy and cold we are looking forward to more. Dad had spring break last week and got lots of projects done around the house (including weeding the garden, hurray!) and now it's just the final push to make it to summer. Mom is almost done with ward conference which should mean Sundays get less busy soon. We've been down twice to visit the Pasco Gailans and the Washburns came for a windy walk this last Saturday. Clark and Anderson were besties until Anderson tried to play with his "moon" aka a purple frisbee and then they became Frenemies.

Okay spring, it's on you now. We want flowers. We want sunshine. We want walks. Whatever we did to miff you, we apologize. Our bad. Sincerely, the Gailans.
