Merry (um) Late Christmas!!

In case it didn't make it in the mail, here's a merry Christmas from the Gailans!!
2013 has been a great year for our little family—a year of new:

New Zip Code
We made a big leap forward in February with the purchase of our first home in Moxee, WA. With the new home has come a lot of hard work and fun memories. We painted walls. Got flooded. Laid rock. Had our fridge go out during a vacation (we’ve been assured this is a time honored tradition amongst homeowners). And entertained guests for the 4th of July and at our 9th Gailan Carve Off (which boasted the largest pumpkin maybe ever grown). We love it all! The garage, the extra space, the walks to Moxee Park, the insane fireworks. Dana is smitten with our lawn and next year we plan to put up a fence and add landscaping.

New Callings
A new move meant a new church ward and with it new callings. Dana is still in the Young Men’s program but with the 12-year-old Deacons which means a lot of campouts eating hot dogs and joking with the boys. He loves every minute of it. I was called to serve as the Sunday teaching supervisor in Relief Society. I have been blessed to get to know so many neat ladies and watch their testimonies of Jesus Christ grow through our lessons.  I have truly seen what it means to serve with your whole heart.

New Family
A new member joined the Gailan clan in June. Dana’s brother, Matt, married his wonderful fiancé, Kristen. She is his perfect match and a fantastic addition to the family.

New Career
Probably the biggest change this year (yes, we topped a house, people) was Dana deciding to leave Englund Law and focus on a different avenue for his career. It was a hard decision and he will forever be grateful to Brad and Julie for the amazing opportunity to work with them. So where is he now? About ten feet from me! Dana is now the distinguished Compliance Officer for Leonard Rickey Investment Advisors. He’s excited to be using his law degree in a difference capacity and loves his new co-workers.

And finally...new horizons
The baby hunt is still on at Casa Gailan but we are exploring other avenues for our adoption hopes, among them the International landscape. We want to thank you all for your prayers and support this last year. We’ve had many leads that weren’t quite right but we take it as evidence that the Lord is moving us in the right direction. Please feel free to give our information below to anyone and everyone. We have high hopes for 2014!
We wish you all the merriest of Christmas’ and a Happy New Year!
