It was Mother's Day yesterday and I think I should probably just go ahead and declare my Mother the best Mom ever. Sorry other people, your Mom comes in second. Tough cookies. In all seriousness, my Mom is my best friend and I hope to pass on all her words of wisdom to my own kids someday. Since Dana and I are adopting, I know I may not get to pass on her amazing porcelain skin (we are rocking it Kitchen women!) and strangely useful toe-pick-upping ability but I hope I can still pass on her sense of humor and practicality. In honor of that practicality, I spent Mother's Day weekend putting together a pack-n-play Mom generously brought with her way back in 2011. How does that fit in with her practicality? Well, long story short at the last Wade reunion some families didn't have pack-n-plays for their kids so Mom decided to buy three for the trip. She keeps one at her house for visiting grandkids and she figured she'd ship one to me and one to Jeff (the two as yet kidless Kitchen siblings). Back in 2011, Dana and I were amused by Mom's decision to fly the pack-n-play out when no kids were in sight. Now we're like, woo hoo, free pack-n-play! It's a great alternative to buying a crib up front and if we get that midnight call to come to the hospital and pick up a baby we won't be running screaming through Wal-Mart for a bed for the little tyke (we'll just be running panicked to get a car seat, but that's a whole other story).
Plus, look how awesome it looks. It's a Winnie the Pooh border which was my favorite children's book.
Baby Gailan - your bed is ready! We even dumped in some friends to keep you company. Happy Mother's Day everyone and thanks, Mom, for being awesome!
