Part 1: Plant a square foot garden
Remember that earlier post about youth slave labor? We were half kidding about that, but we did really get them to build us this awesome square foot garden. After a bit of tricky math and one spilled bag of vermiculite, we had the perfect soil mixture and a whole bunch of plants so Dana graciously mixed, watered
and planted. We have tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelons, cantaloupe, peppers, and cilantro. Hopefully in a few weeks (if we survive the birds, bugs, and pesky truant neighborhood cat) we will have delicious produce to call our own.
Part Two: Take off for a Saturday in Seattle. Start with an amazing temple session (it makes it double fun if you get lost between floors two and four), then find free parking at an REI event (go ahead and embarrass yourself by trying on children's chacos...I'm a size 5 if anyone cares to know), eat a delicious burrito lunch, saunter over to get deep DEEP tissue massages, leave in a bit more pain (wonderful wonderful pain). Head over to the Washington State Arboretum (which Dana realized surrounds a very exclusive golf course...anyone surprised he smelled out a golf course?).
By this time you should be starving so find $5 parking near the pier, wave goodbye to your car (possibly forever) and enjoy some Mahi Mahi tacos at Anthony's (you might experience an uncomfortable moment when you find yourselves upstairs in the ritzy section only to discover they do NOT have the tacos your hubby has been craving all day. Don't worry, it's okay to downgrade to the diner downstairs if you can handle the humiliation. We found out we can.)
The only picture of the two of us. Somewhere between pier 64 and 63.A great day overall and our car was even there when we got back:)
Part 3: Sleep the day away
Okay so we actually did some productive things like go to church, take a walk, umm...eat fondu. But napping and lazing was most of the day. Honestly, best weekend ever and we still have a BBQ to look forward to tomorrow. Happy Memorial Day Folks!
